A great new exercise program awaits you. Lean about the beautiful and ancient art of belly dance.
This fun workshop will introduce you to isolations, shimmies, hip drops, and snake arms. We will

Join Sadiya for a fun filled Hawaiian get away without ever leaving Rochester.  We will learn some
Hula basics, wear hula skirts and pretend that it is warm outside!

Poi Technique with Layla
Saturday March 13, 1-3pm
Learn the art of spinning poi!
A beginning vocabulary of poi spinning will be presented in addition to demonstrations and
practicing the moves.
Bring 2 shower pouffs and 2 shoe laces.  Each lace should be almost the length of your arm.

Beginning Choreography with Laura
Saturday March 20, 1-3:30pm

Laura is known for her beautiful and sassy choreography.  She is one of the choreographers for the
Shaia Dance Collective.  Using a proven technique, Laura will teach you how to choreograph  totally
unique dances of your own with your own style.

Tai Chi and Qigong with Deah
Saturday April 17, 1-2:30pm

Tai Chi and Qigong are part of an ancient, and modern, Chinese health care system designed to
integrate the body and mind by using postures and the breath. Tai Chi has been called moving
meditation. Qigong are single postures done repeatedly, either standing or seated. This practice of
simple, gentle movements and mindfulness is shown to increase well-being, concentration, balance
and energy.

NIA with Amber

Nia is an expressive fitness and awareness movement program that offers a holistic approach to
health.  By blending movements, concepts and theories from a diversity of cultures, Nia offers an
experience that embraces individual creativity, self-inquiry and free expression.

Mother/Daughter Belly Dance with Sadiya- FOR MAYO EMPLOYEES ONLY
Saturday May 8
1-2pm for daughters 10 and under
2:30-3:30pm for daughters 11 and over

Join Sadiya to celebrate the special bond between mothers and daughters.  She will teach a
fun-filled introduction to belly dance.  This dance is, in it's countries of origin, a dance passed from
adult women to their daughters in the family environment.  Learn to shake and shimmy while
wearing a coin filled hip scarf.  

Don't have a mother or daughter???  Bring a friend, n
iece, neighbor.......you get the picture.  Adult
mother/daughter pairs also welcome!  Think of it as a girl party!

Dancing with a Cane with Laura
Saturday May 15
1-3:30pm

A cane is a traditional dance implement from Egypt. Women began dancing with canes as a way of
playfully imitating this men's dance, and over time raks al assaya developed into a distinct women's
dance. Cane dance is fun, energetic and appropriate for even beginning students.  Canes will be
available for borrowing or purchase.  Music and choreography included.

Please register by May 1 if you plan on purchasing a cane.
